Accreditation Achieved

It excites me to share wonderful news with you.

After several years of planning and dedicated commitment on the part of our administration, faculty, and staff, we have attained a significant goal—regional accreditation. The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences is now accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). For a ‘new’ college - in operation for less than 3 years - this is very rare accomplishment.
Most colleges are required to go through a candidacy period for several years prior to receiving accreditation. However, the HLC site Consultant/Evaluators who visited our campus in November and the Review Committee that the Dean, Institutional Assessment and I met with in Chicago on January 26, 2009 recommended us for accreditation instead.

Why? To quote the visitors report: “…the team was repeatedly impressed with the institutional commitment and maturity demonstrated by such a newly birthed institution. In building upon it’s the heritage of its predecessor, The Christ Hospital School of Nursing…..the Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences demonstrates a truly remarkable evolution to a degree granting institution of higher learning”.

What does this mean to you—our current and future students? Quite simply it means that you are applying to or currently attending an accredited college that is committed to excellence .
And what does this mean to our first associate degree graduating class? This accreditation is retroactive and includes the class of 2008.

I am so proud to be President of a college whose Deans, faculty, staff, and students continually strive for excellence.

The full report is available upon request. Contact The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences at 585-2401 to inquire further or visit us at http://www.thechristcollege.org/?id=472&sid=2.
